The BLN is a community that supports not only its members but extends this to the wider community, we have a number of projects and events to provide a springboard for the next generation of BAME members who wish to enter the Legal Profession.

BAME DATA

EMPOWER - This project revolves around the collection of data on the professional lives of BAME legal professionals to determine whether race has had a negative impact on their mental health and wellbeing amongst other issues.

The first project that was conducted examined BAME leadership in non-bame corporate spaces, the findings will be published shortly.

This invaluable data empowers effective change so that we can learn, build, and grow.

PROJECTS

SUPERHEROES: Supporting the Next Generation - The BAME Legal Network (BLN) is a community that supports not only its members but also extends this support to the wider community. We have a number of projects and events to provide a springboard for our young BAME next generation who wish to enter the legal profession.

At BLN, we believe we have a responsibility to encourage our potential young BAME next generation legal professionals. While many may see celebrity status as the ultimate dream and trajectory for social mobility, we aim to make change happen so that the route is equal, just, and fair for the young BAME next generation. We also strive to educate, inspire, and encourage them that there are endless avenues of success that are limitless in different arenas, not just bound to the status quo of celebrity ranking. There are indeed other ‘superheroes’.

Young BAME Next Generation Schools: BLN offers school pupils between years 6 and 8 the opportunity to meet with BAME legal professionals. Through insightful activities, we aim to educate, excite, energize, and encourage our young BAME next generation to learn, build, and grow.

BLN & NON-BAME CORPORATE SPACES

SUPERPOWERS: Promoting BAME Legal Professionals - We liaise with various external bodies to promote the interests of BAME legal professionals. These include the Bar Council, The Solicitors Regulatory Authority, The Inns of Court, The Ministry of Justice, and others. We regularly communicate with other legal organisations within the framework of diversity and inclusion practices in the workplace. Our ‘superpowers’ are executed in raising our profile to make change happen so together we can learn, build, and grow.

BLN holds informal events that create a fun, safe, and relaxed space for legal professionals to encourage and support one another, socialise, and forge new professional friendships.

Visit our events page for upcoming networks.
